Disarm Education Fund

Founded in 1976, we promote peace, social justice, and human rights. Our programs center around one core principle: an immoral and unjust U.S. foreign policy -- particularly the practice of �punishing� foreign governments by withholding medicine from civilians -- has a devastating impact on innocent people around the world. We help with humanitarian aid, life-saving medicine, and effective advocacy.

M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence

Founded in 1991, our educational programs are aimed at conflict prevention, anger management, diversity training, and relationship- and community-building. We are in in touch with groups dedicated to nonviolence worldwide. Our nationwide lecture series makes thousands aware of nonviolence each year, and this has spurred the development of other nonviolence groups throughout the country.

NGO Committee on Disarmament, Peace, And Security

For more than thirty years, we have provided services and facilities to hundreds of citizens groups for the peace and disarmament activities of the UN. As primary liaison to the international movement for arms control, peace, and disarmament, we inform NGOs of the status of negotiation, country positions, major obstacles, and opportunities, and help them apply their expertise and creative proposals.

We promote a new vision for U.S. and global security. 3D security uses development , diplomacy, and defense to address challenges like terrorism, global warming, killer diseases and poverty.

A.J. Muste Memorial Institute

Organized in 1974 to support the nonviolent movement for social change. We have provided grants and sponsorships to hundreds of grassroots projects around the world working to: end war and expose the military-industrial complex; promote the use of nonviolent action; and address other social issues.

Albert Einstein Institution

A nonprofit group advancing the study and use of strategic nonviolent action in conflicts throughout the world. We are committed to the defense of freedom, democracy, and the reduction of political violence through the use of nonviolent action. Our goals are to understand the dynamics of nonviolent action in conflicts, to explore its policy potential, and to communicate this through the media and other ways.

Arms Control Association

Founded in 1971, a nonpartisan group to promote public understanding of and support for effective arms control policies. We provide policy-makers, the press, and the interested public with authoritative information, analysis and commentary on arms control proposals, negotiations and agreements.

Arms Trade Resource Center

Founded in 1983 to engage in public education and policy advocacy aimed at promoting restraint in the international arms trade. We perform research on the U.S. weapons trade and U.S. arms sales policy, and publish reports, magazine articles, and op-ed pieces on the issue. We also serve as a resource for the media, citizen's organizations, members of Congress, and Executive Branch policymakers.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

Founded in 1910 to advance cooperation between nations and promote international engagement by the U.S., our work is nonpartisan and dedicated to achieving practical results. Through research, publishing, convening, and on occasion, creating new institutions and international networks, our associates shape fresh policy approaches to forces driving global change in all regions of the world.

Center for Defense Information

We provide expert analysis on various components of U.S. national security, international security, and defense policy. We promote wide-ranging discussion and debate on security issues such as nuclear weapons, space security, missile defense, small arms, and military transformation. To ensure the ability to provide objective analysis, We accept no U.S. government or defense industry funding.

Center for International Policy

Founded in 1975 by former diplomats and peace activists to promote a U.S. foreign policy based on international cooperation, demilitarization, and respect for basic human rights. We work closely with allies in Congress on these and other issues -- intelligence agency reform, post-conflict reconciliation, nuclear proliferation, illegal financial flows, environmental protection, and citizen participation.

Center for War/Peace Studies

Formed in 1977, located in the UN backyard, we work to establish an international political and legal system that will make possible the abolition of war. On the premise that the present international decision-making system is obsolete, we have developed a system for global decision-making to transform the UN from a powerless "Town Meeting of the World" into a genuine global legislature.

Center on Global Counter-Terrorism Cooperation

A nonpartisan research and policy institute that works to improve internationally coordinated responses to the continually evolving threat of terrorism by providing governments and international organizations with timely, policy-relevant research and analysis. We are the only research center in the world focusing on the role of multilateral institutions in the global campaign against terrorism.

Churches' Center for Theology and Public Policy

An ecumenical research center, drawing upon the theological resources of the churches and other sources of expertise. Our goal is to discern and study the relationship between Christian faith and critical issues of public policy, and to enable churches to contribute more fruitfully to public dialogue and action. Our work includes ending the nuclear weapons danger and other peacemaking efforts.

Fourth Freedom Forum

We work to create a more civilized world based on the force of law rather than the law of force. We believe that economic power is greater than military might, and that the effective use of economic incentives and sanctions offers the greatest hope for creating a more secure and peaceful future. We encourage discussion and development of ideas that will free humanity from the fear of war.

Fund for Peace

A research and educational organization that works to prevent war and alleviate the conditions that cause war. The FfP specializes on the diagnosis and resolution of conflicts associated with weak and failing states and on foreign policy responses.

Global Policy Forum

We monitor policy making at the UN, promote accountability of global decisions, educate and mobilize for global citizen participation, and advocate on vital issues of international peace and justice. We use a holistic approach, linking peace and security with economic justice and human development.

Global Security Institute

We strengthen international cooperation and security based on the rule of law with a particular focus on nuclear arms control, non-proliferation, and disarmament. The insight that nuclear weapons are impractical, unacceptably risky, and unworthy of civilization continues to inspire our efforts to contribute to a safer world. Our programs reach citizens and leaders in the U.S. and throughout the world.

Institute for Defense & Disarmament Studies

Founded in 1980, an independent group for research, alternative policy studies, and public education on ways to reduce the risk of war, minimize military spending, and foster democratic institutions. We provide a regularly updated accounting of worldwide major weapons holdings, production, acquisition, and trade, and a day-by-day chronology of all arms control talks and treaty implementations.

Institute for Policy Studies

For more than four decades, we have transformed ideas into action for peace, justice, and the environment. We have strengthened and linked social movements through articulation of root principles and fundamental rights, research and analysis on current events and issues, and connections to policymakers, academics, and activists at all levels.

International Relations Center

Founded in 1979, we help forge a new global affairs agenda for the U.S. government and people that makes us a more responsible global leader and partner. We educate policymakers, influence public debates and opinion on global affairs, inform activists, and foster strategic dialogue across the globe on key issues like economic globalization, sustainable development, and peace and security.

National Priorities Project

We offer citizen and community groups tools and resources to shape federal budget and policy priorities which promote social and economic justice. Beyond our "cost of war" ticker seen on many websites, we provide data on the impact of federal spending policies for states, cities and counties, and facilitate dialogue and action between national social justice and security policy groups.

Project on Defense Alternatives

We seek to adapt security policy to the challenges and opportunities of the post-Cold War era. Central to our mission is the development of transitional security policy, moving away from offensive postures toward defensive regional and global cooperative security arrangements and capabilities.
 

Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs

We bring together influential scholars and public figures from around the world concerned with reducing the danger of armed conflict and seeking cooperative solutions for global problems. Meeting in private as individuals, rather than as representatives of governments or institutions, our participants exchange views and explore alternative approaches to arms control and tension.

Security and Peace Initiative

A joint initiative of the Center for American Progress and The Century Foundation. We work to advance a responsible U.S. foreign policy based on a strong defense, collective security, capable international institutions, and effective promotion of democracy and the rule of law. With offices in NYC and DC, we place emphasis on identifying and promoting emerging voices in progressive foreign policy.

Security Policy Working Group

A collaborative policy research consortium. We seek to fundamentally reshape security policy in the U.S. and to broaden and deepen the public discourse on what constitutes true security. We emphasize multilateral, cooperative approaches that lessen the need for, and use of, military force.

Stanley Foundation

A nonprofit, nonpartisan, private operating foundation. Our programming is focused on promoting and building support for principled multilateralism in addressing international issues. We seek a secure peace with freedom and justice, built on world citizenship and effective global governance. We promote public understanding, constructive dialogue, and cooperative action on critical international issues.

United Nations Foundation

A public charity to promote and more peaceful, just, and prosperous world. We broaden support for the UN through public-private partnerships, advocacy, grantmaking, and public outreach.

War & Peace Foundation

Founded in 1982, we work to bring about total nuclear disarmament in the U.S. and around the world; to phase out nuclear power and promote other forms of renewable energy; to educate the public on the detriment of "Star Wars" missile defense; to expose and stop operation of arms manufacturers around the world; and to reform and empower the framework of the UN to be an effective peace-keeping body.

Center for Nonproliferation Studies

We strive to combat the spread of weapons of mass destruction by training the next generation of nonproliferation specialists and disseminating timely information and analysis. We are the largest NGO in the U.S. devoted exclusively to research and training on nonproliferation issues.

Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies

Founded in 1986, we conduct research, education, and outreach programs on the causes of violence and the conditions for sustainable peace. We focus on the religious and ethnic dimensions of conflict and peacebuilding; the ethics of the use of force; and the peacemaking role of international norms, policies and institutions, including a focus on economic sanctions and enforcement of human rights.
